Brief Childhood History: Arya was born on the second of September as the only child to Anish, a professor of applied mathematics at Oxford University and Ashba Rachna in their home in Guildford, Surrey.
Anish and Ashba were, for some unknown reason, never able to have any other children than Arya, so Arya’s always been very spoiled because there were no other kids to fight with for the attention of her parents when they weren’t busy with their respective jobs.
Growing up, Arya’s parents weren’t around all that much, as they both had busy careers to take care of. It was mostly the family’s butler, Gerald, who took care of her, and made sure that she had everything she might need. Arya, despite her usually distant and cold behaviour towards other people, loves him more than anything.
Arya grew up very sheltered as there was no siblings for her to play with, and the other kids in the neighbourhood seemed to be avoiding her for some reason. Arya was perfectly happy with this, however, as she preferred to keep to herself.
When the time came for Arya to start school, her parents enrolled her in a local private school. Here it quickly became apparent to her teachers, that while she was bright and loved to learn new things, she had a hard time making friends. It just didn’t come as easy to her as learning the stuff that was in the books did.
Her teachers tried to get her to come out of her shell, but nothing they did seemed to work, and it seemed as if the other kids in her class was avoiding her, just like the kids from her neighbourhood had been doing before she started school.
Her first experience with magic happened when she was eight years old. It happened one day at school where she had been arguing with one of the other girls from her class, who had been calling her names, and then suddenly, the girls hair had turned a bright pink. No one was ever able to explain how it had happened, and after things had settled down again, people stopped questioning it.
Her parents of course knew what had happened, but at home, no one ever spoke of it. It seemed that if they pretended it had never happened, it would just go away, but of course, people were talking. Whenever the family was confronted with the situation, they would outright deny that anything had ever happened, and eventually, people forgot it again.
Strengths: Arya is a very driven young girl, and she’ll do anything to get what she wants, even if it means stepping on other people to get there. However, if she does manage to make friends, she’ll stick by them through thick and thin. Furthermore, Arya’s also very stubborn: once she sets a goal for herself, she’ll work very hard to get there, by any means necessary.
As for academic strength's, Arya will do well in subjects with a lot of theory because she’s good at remembering facts and stuff relating to the theory behind a given subject. This means that she will do particularly well in the subjects History of Magic and Astronomy, as she finds both of them interesting too.
Weaknesses: Arya is not a very sociable person. It’s not that she dislikes the company of others, she just doesn’t know how to act around other kids her age because she never had any siblings. Furthermore, her sarcasm also comes into play as a weakness because when she doesn’t know how to act around others, she resorts to sarcasm because this is her ”safe place”. This will definitely put some people off from being friends with her.
As for academic weaknesses, Arya will struggle in subjects like Herbology and Transfiguration for the reason that these classes are more interactive and requires a lot of practical work, where Arya will usually prefer classes that deals more with book learning.
What House You Feel Your Character Belongs In and Why: Despite Arya being a muggleborn, I feel that Slytherin is the house for her. The reason for this is, that Arya’s ambitious and manipulative nature will be a perfect match, and given the fact that she’s a muggleborn, and knowing the general Slytherin view on muggleborns, I also feel that this is the house that would provide her with the most character development.
